Jason became the first ever Ryder Cup MVP, finishing the weekend with an undefeated record, including a commanding 6-up victory in his singles match.
He was the recipient of the Des Moines Ryder Cup MVP traveling trophy, which stayed with him until the eve of Ryder Cup 2021.
Team Bushbaum kept it close during the second nine of the day, with a dominant victory from Captain Bushbaum/Corpstein, but Team Tilson was able to snag a close win from Klein/Boom to halve the session maintaining a slim 1 point lead.
Team Tilson extended their lead to 2 points by taking 2 of the 3 late PM matches. MVP Jason Klein rounded out his day with Captain Tilson en route to a 1-up victory to take a 5.5-3.5 lead into Day 2.
While no matches went a full 18 holes, there were still some fireworks, including Captain Tilson being up 7 through 9, and Jordan Conrad cutting it to 2 with 3 to play. Brennen Tubaugh secured the cup with his dominant 9 up singles victory.
Team Tilson secured the first ever Des Moines Ryder Cup with a slim 2 point victory over Team Bushbaum. Lead by MVP Jason Klein (5-0-0) going undefeated they also had strong showings from Captain Tilson (3-0-1) and Brennen Tubaugh (3-0-1). Alex Boom, Kiel Merfeld and Chris Reck eached rounded out Team Tilson with records of (1-3-0).
In defeat, Team Bushbaum was led Alex Ross (2-1-1) and the Bushbaum Brothers of Captain Chris and Matt each going (2-2-0).
